I’d agree with lelangir, cleaning up blogs that aren’t updated for too long won’t be a good idea but the first important thing to do is to inform the users.

After browsing through some of the blogs listed under animeblogger, I found a number of them to be quite dead…for example Necro-Flare hasn’t posted in two years. Massugu Straight in nearly one and a half. Perhaps if you’d establish some kind of rule as to how often blogs should be updated, if not just cleaned up or something, a good number of slots would be cleared up, and then costs would go down? Then again, I really don’t know if getting rid of defunct blogs would decrease overall costs. And, then again, not saying the bloggers themselves shouldn’t put in their own word as to whether or not their ‘defunct’ blogs mean anything to them anymore.

Gina: Try downloading the zip file and uploading the .php file from it. I mistakenly thought the .phps file could just be uploaded but the server adds HTML to it when displaying it and makes it invalid as a .php file.

nefesco: Ahh, oops, I deleted it yesterday because I updated the plugin some and forgot to recreate it. It’s back up now.

I’m havin the same problem as Gina’s. Also, the ZIP file is missing in your server. Is there any other way to put Donation Drive in the sidebar?

I’m having a slight problem with the plugin.. it doesn’t seem to show up on the Plugin Management page even though I’ve uploaded it to the plugins directory.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong? :/

Flak: If the goals aren’t met we’ll have to drop a server and scale back. This would be difficult to do, at the very least people would have to cut back on the plugins they use. Obviously we’d prefer to avoid this option. (This is one reason why we won’t add an additional server unless we can get a full three months hosting fees covered up front. We don’t want to unexpectedly lose a server.)

We’re going to continue to try to get the advertising to pay for the site, but if we can’t get it to yes we’ll have to have future donation drives. I’m doing it as 3 months hosting at a time to hopefully keep them from being a monthly thing. We will however keep the current drive going until we meet the minimum goal.

kdp: Do you mean the link to the page on AB’s site or the links to Paypal/Amazon Honor System from that page?

Donations link isn’t working for me. I even turned off Adblocking and that made no difference. Any chance of getting it fixed?

I asked some questions in IRC and got blown off by someone who told me that I should reply to this post.

Question – what happens if the donation goals are NOT met? Will AB sink its costs out of Maestro’s pocket, or will it shut down?

Question – supposing the first goal (listed as including 3 months of hosting) is met, after the next three months of AB, will a new donation goal need meeting?

I had some other, more trivial questions, but they were trivial so uh… I’ll just take answers to these two, and go from there.
